Homemade Chili Garlic Trout Jerky 🌶🧄🎣

This jerky is made in a food dehydrator just slice, marinate, dehydrate, and eat! I love the flavor of this recipe, it is just the right amount of sweet, spicy, and salty! The trout jerky is chewy and soft when it's done!

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 lb. steelhead trout (sliced thin and skin removed)

  • 1 Tbsp sweet chili sauce

  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp paprika

  • 1/2 tsp chili powder

  • 2 tsp salt

  • 1 Tbsp brown sugar

  • 2 Tbsp honey

  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce

Directions:

  1. Put trout fillets in the freezer for around 1 hour for ease of slicing and removing skin. Cut into approximately 1/2-inch strips.

  2. Place the strips into a bowl and combine all ingredients. Let the trout marinate for a few hours.

  3. Lay the marinated strips on dehydrator trays. Set the temperature at 158F and timer for 12 hours. I check the trout every few hours just to check its progress. It is done when the color darkens and is soft and chewy.

  4. Store the dehydrated trout in an airtight jar and enjoy!!
