Homemade Dark Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting 🍫
These cupcakes are delicious, rich, and chocolatey! One of my favorite homemade desserts, and simple to make. Perfect to share with family for the holidays!
Ingredients:
Cupcakes:
1.5c whole wheat flour
1c sugar
1/3c cocoa powder
1/2c dark chocolate chips
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1c water
1/2c avocado oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 Tbsp vinegar
Frosting:
1 pack reduced fat cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 tbsp butter
1/3 c agave nectar
1 c powdered sugar
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 F. Grease your muffin tin.
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients and mix until a batter forms.
Pour the batter into the muffin tin and place in the oven to bake for 20 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; it should come out clean.
Next you want to make the frosting. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, vanilla extract, room temperature butter, and agave nectar. Mix it on high until it is a uniform consistency. Slowly add the powdered sugar and mix on low. Once combined, pour the frosting into a gallon size baggie and keep it in the refrigerator until it is time ice the cupcakes. Simply cut one corner off the baggie.
Let your cupcakes cool all the way before frosting them. I like to make a swirl design when I frost them!
Enjoy!!
