Make Your Own Kale Powder🥬

This recipe is super easy to do and great if you drink a lot of smoothies and are looking for a way to add extra nutrition. Kale has many vitamins and minerals including vitamins A, K, C, B6, manganese, calcium, copper, potassium, and magnesium. I grow my own kale from seed and plant it when the weather is cool in the early spring or fall.

Supplies needed:

  • 2 large baking sheets

  • oven

  • 5-gallon bucket

  • scissors

  • high- powered blender

Directions:

1.Cut your kale leaves off at the stems from the main plant with scissors. Bring them in the house and wash them off in the sink. I tear the kale leaves off from the stem running through the middle and place them in the 5-gallon bucket.

2. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F and lay the kale pieces on the baking trays. The kale will dehydrate and shrink down slowly over time. Check it every 30 minutes or so. You know it is done when it crumbles easily between your fingers.

3. Take the dehydrated kale and place it in a high-powered blender. Blend for 30 seconds and the leaves will turn into a powder.

4. Repeat the process until your bucket is empty! Kale produces large, leafy greens; it may take a few batches to dehydrate them all.

5. Store your homemade kale powder in an airtight container. Enjoy!
